Throughout his travels, Aeneas has been hindered and hampered by Hera, queen of the Olympians and wife to Zeus. Zeus finally tells her enough is enough and that she will stop interfering with Aeneas's fate to settle in Italy. Resigned to Aeneas's fate, Hera tells the nymph Juturna (Turnus's sister) that she may interfere if she wishes to try and save/prolong Turnus's life. Knowing that Turnus will die if he fights Aeneas in single combat, Juturna seeks to carry Turnus away from the battlefield in a chariot, or reignite the war with a single spear throw. Juturna realizes her efforts are futile, andTurnus eventually becomes aware of his sister's machinations and accepts his fate with its grim outlook, rather than be shamed by fleeing a fight with Aeneas.
lyrics
Turnus I've been told your time is up, the sand it has emptied from its glass.
It weighs heavy on my chest.
But it's hard as this goddess and your sister nonetheless,
as your grew older and I stayed the same with immortality I acquiesced,
it's not my fault Zeus chose me to fuck around!
And all this time how I watched over you.
We can betray our fates, and all that entails.
Oh I need to get control, take this chariot and drive it straight towards the setting sun.
Oh we'll hack and slash our way, create rivers running red.
Oh how I need to get control!
You've gotten what you came for, dont punish him.
Dont punish him, please let him live I'm on my knees.
If this fight is over, you'll lose your life, you'll lose your life.
A spark to ignite is within my sight.
I cant have peace, and so i seek, a weaker soul, restart this row,
make tired men take arms again.
And all this time how I watched over you.
We can betray our fates, and all that entails.
Oh I need to take control, a single spear is the step from which these ant beds will explode.
Oh we'll hack and slash our way, create rivers running red.
Oh how I need to take control.
You've gotten what you came for, don't punish him.
Don't punish him, please let him live I'm on my knees.
I can't protect you anymore, dear brother I've got to let you go.
You've gotten what you came for, don't punish him.
You've gotten what you came for, please let him live.
You've gotten what you came for, don't punish him.
You've gotten what you came for, please let him live, please let him live.
